Barracudas are sleek, powerful fish that inhabit tropical and subtropical waters worldwide. They are opportunistic predators, often lurking near structure, waiting to ambush unsuspecting prey. Their most striking feature is their formidable jaws filled with sharp, blade-like teeth, which they use to slash and disable their prey. When fishing for barracuda, expect sudden, violent strikes. They are notorious for cutting through monofilament line, so using wire leaders is essential. Trolling with shiny spoons or plugs that mimic baitfish is a very effective method, as is casting jigs or live bait near structure. While not always a table fish, they offer an exciting fight.
