Fishing Guide in Port St. Lucie

The waters around Port St. Lucie give us incredible variety. We fish the flats and mangrove shorelines of the Indian River Lagoon for Snook, especially during the warmer months when they're aggressive and feeding hard on the edges. The grass flats here hold bait year-round, and that means predators are never far off. When we target Snook inshore, I'm working live pilchards or pinfish tight to structure, and the strikes are explosive. Fall and spring are prime times when the water temps sit in that sweet spot and these fish are feeding to bulk up or recover from the spawn.

Port St. Lucie also gives us a short run to productive nearshore bottom in the Atlantic. I take my charter clients out to ledges and structure in 60 to 120 feet where Mangrove Snapper, Yellowtail Snapper, and Grouper stack up. We're typically fishing live bait or cut bait on the bottom, and the action can be steady when conditions line up. Grouper fishing is best from late spring into summer before the closure, and Snapper bite year-round with some of the best action in fall and winter when they're thick on the rocks. When the Gulf Stream pushes in close and we get clean blue water, that's when Mahi show up nearshore, usually late spring through summer. We'll troll or pitch baits to weedlines and floating debris, and when you find them, it's game on.

A typical trip out of Port St. Lucie depends on what you want and what the conditions are giving us. Inshore trips focus on Snook around the mangroves and docks, and we're sight fishing or working the tide lines. Nearshore and offshore trips mean we're heading out to the reefs for bottom fish or hunting Mahi when they're around.
